"This is a little Jewel of a museum along the Fox River. Gives you an appreciation of the rich history of the area. The workers there are very knowledgeable and friendly. A lovely place for a family to bring their kids without breaking the bank. And a fun time for adults we just want a nice reprieve from the usual activities.

"I’m honestly shocked after reading another reviewer call this event “terrible.” My experience with the Fox River Trolley Museum’s Santa Trolley Express was the complete opposite. I’ve done the Polar Express event before, and while that was neat in its own way, it’s incredibly refreshing to see this museum step out of that mold and try something new.
I rode the train both nights, and considering the snowstorm the first night and all the obstacles they faced, they did a pretty impressive job. The second night was even better! You could tell they worked hard to fine-tune things in a very short amount of time. Less crew crowding the train, no isolated crew chatter, and the overall atmosphere improved tenfold.
The new heated check-in car was such a pleasant surprise. I learned their crews rushed to get it ready just for this event! A major kudos for that! Sure beat waiting in your car like years past. Being able to grab hot chocolate on my own was great too; it didn’t feel forced, and seeing their partnership with a local Dunkin really shows strong community connections. When a big business supports a small museum like this, it really says a lot, and honestly, it makes me want to visit that Dunkin more often.
Santa spent much more time with the kids at the "North Pole", and the different Santa on Sunday was absolutely fantastic. Mrs. Claus being on the train the second night was perfection! She was warm, gentle, and her story time compared to Rudolph the first night was magical. Plus seeing kids hug her unprompted was honestly heart-melting. Rudolph with Santa was a huge improvement as well. Some of the elves were the same both nights, and they were adorable and great with the little ones—probably just shy the first night, and I can totally understand that!
The new conductor brought so much energy and engagement to the ride, and I’m glad to see him back as i recognized him from years past. The musician can improve a bit, but even he was better the second night.
Thank you to the gentleman running the event for taking time to talk with me about all the changes and what they’ve learned so far. He was sincere and very kind with my daughter, which I truly appreciated.
I don’t usually write reviews, but this is a great operation that’s left the Polar Express nest and truly coming into its own. I’ll definitely be back!"

"I tried the holiday train (Santa’s Trolley Express) and honestly it was a waste of money. It was about $45 per person for a ride that lasted only 10 to 15 minutes. The atmosphere wasn’t exciting, they cut off half the songs, and the “stormy storytelling” made no sense. There were zero gifts, no goodie bags, no souvenirs for kids, nothing that made it feel special for the price. I wouldn’t recommend it. This was my first and definitely my last time going.l"
