The black river wild forest by little woodhull lake. Lots of flooding on the trail! And it just gets worse as you get closer to the lake. Still a nice hike that was easy enough for younger children. #hiking #hike #creek #water #woods #forest #outdoors #nature #explore #getoutside #relaxing #calm

At its core, this is not about mining. Even those who adamantly support other mines can agree that the juncture of the Porcupine Mountains, the North Country Trail, the Black River, and Lake Superior is simply not an appropriate spot for any heavy industrial activity whatsoever. But state representative Dave Prestin says that Copperwood’s infrastructure will lay the foundation for future developm...

7-mile hike in Black River County Park — wonderful❣️ . Almost overnight, the forests have again become lush❣️❣️❣️ . The Black River Trail ran along water quite a bit. That flowing water sound is very relaxing to me.

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the Black River Water Trail for its beautiful, diverse Michigan forest scenery and well-maintained, unpaved trails. The peaceful, natural setting and the relaxing sounds of the river are frequently highlighted. Some reviewers note that the trails can be a bit rugged and easy to get turned around on, and the lack of facilities requires planning.

"Scenery/Condition
Nice Michigan forest with a verity of trees (no rows of red pine) and some changing scenery with little glades. It was the fall when I hiked it and even after some rain there were no significant mud spots. Someone had recently gone through some spots with a brush hog to clear out the vegetation that smacks your shins. (I don't like it when trails feel like sidewalks so I appreciate the narrower nature of this trail).

Difficult
I liked the slightly curving and singl-file size trail. It was pretty flat and had good maps and a fair number of trail markings (colord diamonds). That being said I did find myself getting turned around a few times.

Length:
There are a few loops so you could probably hike any length from 0.5 miles to 3.0 miles. Good for a more relaxed nature walk or stroll with friends.

Bathrooms:
There were no bathrooms.

Random:
There was also a giant teepee made out of old little trees.

Overview ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐:
5 Stars for a scenic and pretty well maintained trail with solid maps and good distances for an afternoon walk."

"Gorgeous, very well marked trails. Some trails are a bit rugged so plan accordingly. No paved trails. The parking lot is small but we went on a weekday and had no parking issues."

Diana Onken

"One of the best campgrounds I've been to. The owners came out to make sure that I got into my spot offering help. The staff was super friendly, Pet friendly, Nobody harassed you. I will come back to this place again and again, Clean bathrooms, location is 10 minutes away from Sout Haven.
What impressed me the most is when I pulled in they offered me an extension of electrical cord or water hoses if I needed them. You just don't find friendly people like this anywhere."
