Reviews Summary
Reviews for Forest City Cemetery are mixed, with a recurring theme of significant maintenance issues, including overgrown vegetation and general unkemptness. While some visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere for reflection and the opportunity to visit family plots, the lack of upkeep is a major point of disappointment for many.
"Absolutely DISGUSTING! This cemetery isn’t maintained at all! I went out to visit family a few weeks ago and the entire cemetery was overrun with tall grass and weeds. I went back today (Memorial Day) and even on a holiday like today when tons of people visit a cemetery, the entire place looks exactly as it did a few weeks ago. It might be hard to see in the photos but the grass and weeds are all about 8” tall, in EVERY area of the cemetery. This isn’t a case of just certain sections not having been mowed yet. The ENTIRE cemetery looks like this. I literally saw one old woman using her own personal weed whacker to clean up a family member’s plot. She said it’s what she come to expect at that cemetery. The shrubs are all so overgrown that they are hiding headstones. Trash all around. And this isn’t a case of the weather preventing them from mowing. It’s been rainy, but we’ve also had at least a couple sunny days every week. Lack of staff isn’t an excuse either. They can easily hire high school students and put them on a riding mower.
Tomorrow, I’m changing my estate planning so that my family and I are buried at another cemetery. One that actually has enough respect for those buried there, to keep the grounds maintained."

"My daughter is buried in a row of all infant burials. There has been a cement angel(heavy) on her grave for 57 years for the last 40 or so years we have taken it off in the winter and I have cleaned and repainted it before putting it back in the spring. My husband trims and uses our weedwacker to keep it looking nice. We went to water Monday and found it had been tipped over and was broken in half.I want to believe that it was an accident not a malicious act but either way it is still heartbreaking.

"They buried me in the worst possible coffin, (metal lined and extremely uncomfortable) my neck is perpetually scrunched and the cemetery staff didn’t even close the lid properly so whenever the occasional grave robber comes along and walks over my grave, a bit of dirt crumbles down onto my face, right where the lip of the lid is. One time a mouse found it’s way into my coffin through the lid that was left ajar. I’ll just say it made a nice morning (or was it evening…? I can never tell down here) snack. One star for the terrible serve but I’ll make it two because it’s nice to have a little peace and quiet down here all by myself. (They forgot to remove my phone from my back pocket which is why I’m able to write this thorough review)."
