What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Cottonwood Park is a pleasant local spot with good Truckee River access for swimming and a nice playground. While some find it peaceful and clean, others note it can get crowded and messy during summer weekends. It's a convenient place for picnics and a relaxed day outdoors, though its location in an industrial area is a unique characteristic.
"This was a nice little park right along the Truckee river. We were in Reno to take our son for his new job and school and before we left town wanted to see some of the places around town. We grabbed some Texas Roadhouse for dinner and drove here to eat and enjoy the weather and scenery. This is at the end of a huge industrial park so it seems like it is off the beaten path and maybe not as known. There were quite a few people there when we were but it was by no means crowded and we were there on the 4th of July."

"I'm a trucker who works down the street from this park. I walk my dog here often. The river is really cool but it gets insanely crowded during the summer, which causes the trash cans to overflow. At night there are generally a few poor people sleeping in their cars but I've never seen them causing any problems."

"Helped clean up trash along the river. Collected a large black bag of assorted trash, a shovel(?), and homeless articles. Most of the trash was blown from the industrial area across the street. It's a cute little park, with a nice playground and picnic tables. I didn't check out the bathrooms."
