Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Lamoille Canyon's stunning, national park-caliber scenery, calling it a hidden gem. The well-maintained paved road makes it accessible for all vehicles, and the abundance of wildlife adds to the experience. While beautiful year-round, autumn foliage and spring waterfalls are particularly highlighted. Some find trails unclear further in, and road closures due to snow can impact spring visits.

"We love Lamoille Canyon. A lot of trails to choose from. We always take a picnic lunch and spend the day.
We love to see the big horned sheep, mountain goats, hawks, crains, bunnies, chipmunks, and squirrels. We don't like to see the rattle snakes and mountain lions but they are there and we have seen them.
Our favorite Lake is Island Lake. We have hiked up to it many times and even if their is still snow on the ground it is beautiful see.
Also hiking in June you will still see snow on most of the trails."

"At this time of the year you can only drive about half way up. The upper half is closed to cars and reserved for snowmobiles. I was told that it can be closed up till June depending on the amount of snow. Beautiful views and scenery"

Stewart Carnes

"Absolutely beautiful up here driving through the valley between steep mountains with snow still melting from them in June. River flowing fast and numerous waterfalls. Amazing hikes to hidden lakes. Can also bring your horses. Swing out into or over the river from a rope if you're brave ( or foolish). Many turnouts and campgrounds to stay overnight."
