I want to take my kayak up to Weeki Wachee and looking for some tips. It appears Rogers Park is a popular launch, but it’s a 6 mile upstream paddle to the head spring which many note has a pretty solid current. Obviously going downstream coming back isn’t an issue. It appears…

Alternative kayak launch area from weeki wachi/rogers park?

We launch from Roger's park and head upstream. It takes about 35-40 minutes to go upstream until you get to the clear water you're looking for. If you get there earlier in the morning before 9 am there aren't usually a lot of people there and it makes for a pretty enjoyable…

Weeki Wachee River. Current was a little strong going up stream today, so we didn’t make it all the way to the actual spring. We did paddle 6.68 miles tho (launched from Rogers Park). Stopped on a sand bar and ate our packed lunch. Always a great day kayaking.

pro strat: the river often reverses its flow during changing tides, so launching a couple hours before high tide will make getting upriver much quicker.

"What an amazing place for the family! Parking is limited at Rogers Park so come early , restrooms are clean . Small park for children also a small beach . The best view and best experience is on the water. If you have a kayak or small boat this is a must . Lots to see as you stroll on the canal ."

"Always a fun day! Must get there early, parking lot is very small. There's additional parking close by but you have to pay. Two different kayak rental spots, a boat launch, and a restaurant surrounds the park so there's lots of opportunities for a good time."
