What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Phelps Grove Park is widely loved for its beautiful mature trees, spacious modern playground, and historic shelter house. Visitors appreciate the park's serene atmosphere, art installations, and the charm of the surrounding historic neighborhood. While restrooms are noted as dated, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, making it a favorite local spot.
"It's a nice park. We were there at night, it seemed safe. There was some sort of uniformed bicycle operator with a lot of lighting that seemed to be patrolling the place in some manner. They could've just been the World's Safest Bicyclist though. There's a stage with columns that don't appear to have ever had any structure associated with them. There's a well lit wall that has appeared in music videos. There's an art installation there that could be described by many terms: speech balloon, thought bubble, quote bubble; it's actually an Ernest and Ruth installation.
We had a wildlife interaction with an inch worm. I'm not sure what's larval in September in SWMO. Video attached."

"I love Phelps Grove Park! The trees are magnificent! They hold so much history. I enjoy just walking around the area. The homes all around the park are beautiful. Hats off to the Springfield Parks Department for doing such a wonderful job with our parks. We really are fortunate to have such great areas to enjoy"

"My favorite park in Springfield. There is a wonderful music park and two different playgrounds. They are a little more suited for little kids, but I love that there are not really places to fall off! The park is far from the road, so there is lots of space for little kids to run around without a parent on them all the time. My kids love it, too!"
