What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Downtown State College is praised for its great atmosphere, friendly staff, and well-organized community events. Visitors enjoy the local shops, art walk, and the overall vibrant vibe. However, parking prices are a significant concern for many, with some finding them excessively high and a deterrent to visiting, especially during events.
"The atmosphere is great but the parking prices are ridiculous almost makes you want to sue the township 22 dollars to go to work on a game day for parking and 9 dollars on a regular day absolutely ridiculous. Other towns that have done exactly what Penn State has been doing will crash. Can't be money hungry for ever!"

"Mother of 2 went to 1st Fri for free parking to take my kids to dinner downtown. I did not know that I was going to have to pay half of our meals cost in parking if I lost my ticket. Parked at Fraser garage. I had my ticket mins ago and was walking around trying to validate my ticket but the 2 places I went to said they didn't do it, then I went to pay my parking and found out that I must have dropped my ticket while I was trying to get it validated and got charged by the parking lot $18 when I was only there for 1 hour. I thought it was free parking for first Fridays but it doesn't matter you need that ticket. When I went to ask the lady why is it $18 if I was just there for an hour. She said "well maybe you shouldn't have lost your ticket." Nice lady nice. This is what I get for trying to go downtown in state college. I will never go to a downtown even again. If your going to tell people to use these garages you should warn them that even on first Friday when parking is supposed to be free if you lose your ticket you will be charged $18. I have a family to support I thought we could afford a downtown dinner and was counting on the free parking. I wouldn't of lost my ticket if we weren't going around trying to get it validated and then being told no at the places. You should warn people on your website that they will have to pay $18 if by chance they lose the parking ticket so families can be prepared to have that available."
