Reviews Summary
Bell's Lane Birding Area offers stunning, undeveloped mountain views, particularly at sunrise and sunset. However, access is challenging due to a rough, rutted road requiring a high-clearance vehicle. Visitors appreciate the natural beauty but note the lack of amenities like restrooms.
"Narrow road , with washout rut running down it that leads to the top, where there are a couple of picnic tables and trash cans . A cut out of timber to see a view in two different locations- view is eastward and southern .
Nothing extraordinary, nothing to worth making a special trip for or bucket list. Although it's very good that least this area has been PROTECTED from development. As the entire lower perimeter around the little mountains/ big hills have been.
If it had an observation deck above the trees , you would get a 360° view of the valley and mountain ranges on the Westside and Eastside , along with valley floor mountains like Massanutten mountain. Toilet facilities are needed , imagine having a picnic without , reminiscent of the the Roadside Tables of the 1940s to early 60s that once existed along all the US highway system. The surrounding woods was the bathroom, watch your step !"

"I love going to this park its so unique. Its a single almost untouched mountain top surrounded by the town. At this point you definitely need a higher clearance vehicle to get to the top. You can hike or bike up but there but parking is really for the residents that live around the bottom. I would not take a regular car up there. Mornings and sunsets are beautiful and youre still in town but with a wonderful view."

"This place would be hard to find. If it didn't show up on Google, I wouldn't even know it existed.
The signs are no joke. It was quite a rough two track up to the summit, low clearance cars be careful. Though it is a single lane road up there, there are places to pull off to allow others by, so keep an eye down the road.
Though Google maps showed the "road" to be a loop, it only appeared to he a down and back from the parking area. Parking area near the overlook could hold 3 or 4 cars. I think there was a mountain trail starting point up there too.
If you aren't up for the bike trail, the overlook is a bit underwhelming, especially trying to peer through the overgrowth."
