"Established in 1853 during Mystic's maritime heyday, it was envisioned as a serene, park-like resting place beyond the crowded churchyards of the time. Winding paths, ornamental trees, and sepulchers in Egyptian, Greek, and Gothic styles reflect the era's belief in death as "eternal rest." More than 13,000 interments lie within its grounds, including many of Mystic's founding families and civic leaders. Among the notable burials are members of the Hoxie, Greenman, Denison, and Mallory families. The names that represent region's shipbuilding, mercantile, and philanthropic history.
The cemetery is in excellent condition, well kept and easily driveable or walkable. Just be respectful, please."

It sits alongside the georgeous Mystic River, with views of the river, the farms across the river, and the tall ships at the Mystic Seaport. It is the final resting place for the famous families that founded and built Mystic into one of the premier shipbuilding towns in the US in the 1800s. And is still the preferred resting place for the Mystic community, who get to be nestled among the beautiful and well-cared-for mature trees, ponds and cart paths for eternity."
