What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors overwhelmingly adore Stony Creek Metropark, praising its vast array of activities from swimming and boating to extensive trails for hiking and biking. The park's well-maintained facilities, natural beauty, and family-friendly atmosphere, including pet-friendly areas, are frequently highlighted. While generally positive, some note the park can get crowded during peak times and advise caution regarding speed limits due to police presence.
"I absolutely adore Stony Creek Metropark. Over the years my family and I have visited, not only for simple outdoor enjoyment and swimming, but for a range of events; 5K races, Night of the Dragon, Nature center programs, and birthday parties. They have a multitude of different areas throughout the park, so there are a ton of options for your day, and it's also pet friendly in the majority of areas (minus the nature center, beach, and no swimming at the lake). You could take your kids to their large play area at Eastwood beach, head out for some disc golfing, stay the weekend at their campground, head to the boat drop in and spend the day in the lake, take a swim and enjoy the beach, hike one of the many trails, or take your pup to one of the two off leash dog park areas. There are bathroom facilities available throughout the park, as well as benches, picnic tables and charcoal grills found in multiple locations. Really everything you could need to enjoy a day out in Nature, both on you own or with family/friends. Everything appears very well maintained, and staff has always been helpful and kind on the few times I needed to speak to someone. I highly, highly recommend Stony Creek Metropark. Worth the trip."

"Great park, almost worth the $40 annual metro park pass fee on its own. Great beaches during the summer, beautiful tree color changes in the fall. Plenty of trails for all level of activities (biking, running, leisurely walking, dogs, etc). Don’t speed here when driving around though, it’s jam packed with cops."

"We love playing in the lake and sand at Eastwood Beach. Bathrooms are close to the water and playground. Lots of variety at the playground: big kids love the climbing rope section and there are a few unusual features for them (a rotating ring to walk on, for example). Also, swings and a large toddler section that actually keeps the younger ones entertained for a while."
