What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the breathtaking panoramic views of Strike Valley and the Waterpocket Fold, calling them amazing and spectacular. The opportunity to see arches on the approach and the rugged drive are also highlights. However, the challenging road conditions and the need for a high-clearance 4x4 vehicle are frequently mentioned drawbacks, with some visitors opting for a long hike instead.
"Amazing view of the valley, though there's a few different viewpoints along the ridge. You'll see the cairns split in different directions, both views are worth checking out. The parking area was pretty full, though when I got out to the overlook, there wasn't anyone else out there. I guess they were all hiking up the canyon, so I'm not sure what is up the canyon that is worth that many people driving all the way out here to go see.
As for getting there, the main roads can be washboarded pretty bad, and the clay can be impassable when wet. The Upper Muley Twist portion after you pull off of Burr Trail and get into the wash can be challenging for non high clearance 4x4's. 6 years ago I almost took my random rental SUV up the wash but backed out after I didn't trust the highway tires with the way some of the rocks looked. This time though I had my truck so it was fine. There are some neat spots for vehicle pics driving up the wash.
If you don't want to drive the wash, there is a parking area you can hike in from, it adds about 3 miles each way so be prepared, this is the desert after all."

"Amazing view. you need 4x4 Higj Clerance to get here. at least the last part from Burr Trail Road to Upper Mulley Canyon Trailhead"
