"Susan Creek waterfall trailhead is across the street from the Susan Creek day use area. The waterfall hike is .9 miles with some uphill travel to the waterfall in areas, but not bad. It’s a pretty mellow hike and easy for kids, BUT BEWARE the entire trail is surrounded with poison oak! It was difficult keeping kids from touching it, since it was dangling over the path. Letting kids know if you see “leaves of three, leave them be.” You can tell little ones that all you want, but kids want to pick up sticks and hop all over the place! So, if you catch poison oak pretty bad, either wear a full body suit or find a different path!
They have been working on cleaning up the fire damaged trees in this area. There’s only enough space for three cars in the waterfall trailhead parking but the parking lot is covered in cut burnt trees at the moment. Also, the trash near the bathroom was horrible! Pick up after yourselves people! This is the reason why many of our beautiful natural places are not open to the public anymore!
Once you make it to the end, you will love the reward! The waterfall is powerful and you can sit close enough to get a nice refreshing mist!"
