If you're a glutton for punishment with a reward at the end, this is for you. Billions and billions of rocks. Many of them contain mica, so at least the trail is kinda sparkly to look at... which is good because you have to look at it 60% of the time. If you don't, you will probably lose your footing or twist an ankle on a loose rock. Flip flops not recommended. Walking stick highly++ recommended.
From car to Pinnacle and back to car was 8 miles via the West Fork, I spent a little over 5 hours to hike it. I passed (or was passed) by 6 other hikers +2 dogs. Not sure how the dogs did on the rocks, doesn't seem like a good idea to me but whatevs.
The view at the top was incredible when you finally burst through the bushes. After being used to the wide obvious trail for 99% of the way, it's a little tiny trail hidden in the bushes that you have to look around for. It goes another couple hundred feet to the peak.
Not sure what it is like when the trees lose their leaves, but in the summer the trail was 99.99% shaded. Don't bother bringing a hat (maybe sunglasses for the peak).
Heard lots of birds, but the only animals I saw were a rather large snail and a turtle (at 4000 feet!! How did it get up there?), and the bushes rustled once. But as I said at the beginning you have to watch the trail most of the way.
There were about 5 trees down over the path, but they only needed minimal climbing over to get past. The way up is very cardio, the way down was much harder on the feet and knees. If it didn't have the view at the end, it would not be worth hiking on the rocks."

"Nice size parking lot to start , no fee but they do take donations to help the park. This is a hard hike , I used AllTrails to navigate , but truthfully the trail is well maintained and well marked. Now back to this “hard” trail, it is indeed . I went to the left and started my ascent and it is nothing but up , every now and then about twenty feet of level then back up . At the two mile mark you come to the side trail to go out to Pinnacle mtn, the peak . I highly encourage it as it was a welcome break from the hike up.
The views are spectacular when you get to the end of that side trail(1.7 miles one way ) so that is 3.4 miles of the 8 mile hike .
Once you are back to the main trail it is back up again. Eventall6 it levels out and then the descent . That was hard on the knees ,and required some climbing or large step downs. The trail down is narrow in places. I think next time I do this hike I’ll go right and hike that way first as I’d rather climb some of those obstacles and narrow trail then come down when my knees are screaming lol
This is a great trail , great calorie burner and I will be back. On the way up I did hike along the water and you see a good bit going up that way . Wear your hiking shoes and enjoy the views and being out in nature"

"Previous reviewer had me a little apprehensive about giving this hike a try. There are multiple hikes with varying levels of difficulty. We went on a really pleasant hike in the woods along the side of a stream and did not encounter any extra strenuous or scary stretches.
Returned again 2025- someone local told us straight ahead through the metal gate at the entrance is the trail to the Pinnacle. About 7 miles/4hours/1,400' elevation change throughout the hike."
