It's easy to get lost even though cairns on it are pretty reliable, so make sure you have it downloaded on AlITrails app. I saw lots of shade but it's scarce towards the end. I was the only person on this trail while the short Upheaval Dome viewpoints were packed with tourists. I started hiking at 8am and the parking was nearly full."

"I have been here. My thoughts go out to the father and daughter that died, but this trail is quite popular and quite well marked compared to most trails in Canyonlands, so I would contest reviews saying otherwise especially coming from people who have never been here. It is a difficult trail. Folks that come here should expect it to be strenuous and to bring adequate water, especially in hot weather."
