Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Lake Talquin State Forest for its serene natural beauty, especially the stunning sunrises and sunsets over the lake. The Fort Braden Trails are highlighted for wildlife viewing and moderate hiking. However, the primitive camping facilities, including vault toilets and lack of water, are a significant drawback for some, and the dirt road access can be challenging after rain.

"Beautiful sunrise's and sunset's. Boating, kayak and fishing."

Judy Luten

"Basic campground. Vault/pit toilets. No water, no electricity. Quiet and peaceful during my stay. Great views from the fishing pier. Lots of squirrels scurrying about. Picnic table and fire pit at each campsite. Raised parking pad with gravel. You will have to maneuver a well maintained 2.6 mile dirt road in order to access this campground. It became a bit muddy and precarious when it rained but they brought in heavy equipment to level it back out. Rangers come around periodically to clean the bathroom and empty the trash cans. There are no large dumpsters at this location so use small bags when discarding garbage. There's also a small boat ramp for those interested."

Amanda E

"It’s lake talquin. It’s nice, it’s nature, and it’s serene. Swim at your own risk, play but wear mosquito spray and I catch but don’t eat out of it."
