What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Dora Canal's 'Old Florida' charm, stunning 'Cypress Cathedral,' and abundant wildlife, calling it a peaceful and majestic experience. However, some find weekend boat traffic disruptive, with noise and fumes detracting from the tranquility.
"Team Powers paddled the canal today for our family weekend outing. Yep, and that's the last time we will do so on a weekend or maybe ever.
If you like lots of boats parading by, and smelling noxious fumes, and getting swamped by rude motor boaters who do not follow no wake signs, then by all means this is the place for you! If you like quiet green waterways, opt for just about any place else. I did manage a couple of nice photos because we got out early enough to miss the worst of the motor boat traffic."

"The Dora Canal is located in Lake County, Florida, near the city of Tavares and connects Lake Dora with Lake Eustis. It dates back to 1882, when crews dug out the former Elfin River in order to accommodate larger steamboats.
One large public boat ramp is located at 1515 US-441, Tavares, FL 32778 and a small boat ramp at 1001 Wells Avenue, Tavares, Fl, 32778.
There are numerous tours and boat rentals in the area. This is where we love to take visitors from out of state for an Old Time Florida venture."
