Richard is moving away and will be very missed. Richard’s great passion in the Parks is the American black bear! We invite you to take a few minutes to enjoy Richard’s black bear program (and if you’re planning a trip to the parks tomorrow, ...

There is nothing ordinary about Sequoia. 🏞️ We entered in through the Foothills Visitor Center and drove Generals highway, passing Hospital Rock and coming into Giant Forest. We parked a short ways from the General Sherman Tree parking lot and even though you can see General Sherman after just a short walk, you’d be missing out on so much if you don’t walk the Congress Trail. Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Foothills Visitor Center to be a helpful and friendly first stop in Sequoia National Park, with knowledgeable rangers providing excellent personalized advice and maps. It's also the essential place to purchase Crystal Cave tickets. While small, it offers necessary facilities and educational exhibits, though some note its limited size.

"The employees are super nice. I told them how much time i have and they breakdown my customized travel plan in 2min along with direction marked in map.

Only suggestion is to have offline map saved in your phone as network is not available inside the park"

Mohammad Nasim Imtiaz Khan

"Small area that provides park visitors a place to stop and use the facilities before another 30min push up to the Giant Forest.

You can buy tickets to the Crystal Cave here. It's a cavern formation that is available to tour at Sequoia. You cannot buy tickets up there at their entrance.

You can get information from an NPS Ranger here, but the Foothills is mostly a small visitor's center. It was our first stop, but we would have been fine passing by it."

Ino Ruiz

"Nice little place to stop before driving up the mountain to see the beautiful sequoia trees. Includes a small museum and gift shop and clean restrooms. Friendly staff and great place to learn about these beautiful trees."
