What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Donner Memorial State Park for its beautiful lake, scenic trails, and rich historical significance. Many highlight the peaceful atmosphere and family-friendly nature of the park, though securing camping spots can be a challenge.
"One of the tragic stories of the pioneer west and California told here. A small museum and gift shop with a short nature trail and walk to 2 of the cabin sites of the Donner parties. One cabin site is on the nature trail while the other is near the large and imposing Pioneer monument statue. The primary/actual site of Donner family is about six miles away from the visitor center and easily accessed off the highway and recommended to visit. They will give you a map to that site."

"We did the China Cove Trail at the park as well as the visitor center, and it was very beautiful nice 3.5 mile hike. Everyone at the visitor center was so nice. They told us about the rainbow bridge to go visit up on Donner pass. Highly recommend stopping here."
