Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Mission San Xavier del Bac for its breathtaking beauty, rich history, and serene atmosphere. Many are captivated by the intricate Baroque architecture and vibrant interior artwork, describing it as a spiritual haven. The free admission and the opportunity to support the mission through donations or by visiting the gift shop are also highlighted positively. Some visitors note that weekends can be crowded, and access to the full sanctuary might be limited during mass.

"Just an exquisite safe haven for the heart and mind. The long rich history of the Mission is full of breathtaking artistry, attention to detail, and skilled craftsmanship.

We visited on a Sunday, and the sanctuary was full, and the Sunday Mass was about to begin, so we didn't get to see the entire sanctuary (note: I am not Catholic, and don't know if there is a different word for that area of a church. I apologize!)

There is also a shrine up in the hill to the right. I was up there some 30 years ago. A very peaceful, secluded place to pray or think.

One of my favorite places on this planet. 🥰🥰🥰"

"San Xavier del Bac Mission truly lives up to its nickname, “The White Dove of the Desert.” This magnificent and spiritual Spanish Catholic mission, completed in 1797, is a stunning example of Baroque architecture and features breathtaking painted artwork throughout. The atmosphere inside the church is deeply moving. It was incredibly touching to see all the candles purchased for the sick, the dead, and for miracles. The fact that a candle, which costs just $8, will burn for an entire week is a beautiful gesture.
The mission grounds are equally charming. We loved strolling through the courtyard with its beautiful fountain and browsing the quaint gift shop for unique Arizona trinkets. The food vendors outside were a great addition, offering delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. This is a must-see for anyone in the Tucson area, whether you appreciate history, architecture, or are simply looking for a peaceful and spiritual place to visit."

We will be back soon.😊"
