What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The Campbell Hotel offers a unique, historic Route 66 experience with charming themed rooms and a friendly atmosphere, particularly noted for its lounge and staff. However, some guests have pointed out areas where cleanliness and upkeep could be improved, leading to a 'rustic' rather than 'boutique' feel for some.
"There is a fine line between boutique and dilapidated and I think this hotel has crossed into dilapidation or is very close. I'm still giving it three stars because I like a lot of what this has to offer, but it's just too rustic to get five stars. The staff is nice and it's well decorated visually, but the bedding is not very clean. The main blanket on the bed appears to be decorative and doesn't seem like it's ever been washed. It has kind of a dirt-like smell coming from it, but I have to use it because I don't have anything else but a sheet. Same with the decorative pillows - they were visibly dirty.
It's cool and charming, but they need to do a little better job at cleanliness. The fixtures are also getting old and run down. The shower curtain was wet when I got into the room. Just tiny little bits of unkempt-ness like that, but they all add up to an experience that's honestly kinda nasty."

"Very unique hotel. Rooms are themed and based on surrounding area history. We stayed the Leon Russell room which was adorned with numerous pieces of memorabilia and even a piano kid headboard signed by Leon. Staff is great and the hotel is right on the Route 66. A few little annoying things were the low shower pressure and softness of the bed on our room. This place is affordable and beautiful."

"Convenient location, very friendly staff, ease parking. This unique building has lots of potential, but the 1990s-looking refresh is tattered. Linens and upholstered furnishings were grubby/dirty, paint is in poor shape, toilet seat was worn out and the toilet paper holder fell off the wall because it lacks set screws. Photos are misleading - it’s a really cool building with very kind service, but nowhere near the “boutique” more upscale experience suggested in photos. I would stay here again with adjusted expectations."
