Did you know #UA has several museums on campus? Bill Bomar, Executive Director for UA Museums, oversees them all! Bill loves his job because, “no two days are the same. We have an array of museums and subject matter - ranging from a historic house with antique furniture to the ruins of an ancient city in Moundville.”

Reviews Summary

Visitors find the Alabama Museum of Natural History to be an enjoyable and worthwhile experience, especially given its low admission price. The stunning architecture of Smith Hall and unique exhibits like the live beehive and Sylacauga meteorite are frequently praised. Some reviewers noted that while the exhibits are interesting, there's potential for more space utilization.

"We really enjoyed their mystery night event, but it did feel a bit drawn out. I think the appeal is much more for little kids during the event, but we appreciated free entry for the night. The exhibits we could see around the booths were very interesting. I wish the museum was open on weekends that the university hosts football games as not everyone prefers sports for entertainment, but the limited parking nearby makes sense as to why they close. This was our second attempt to see the museum due to them closing the previous weekend for the game, which did not reflect on Google maps hours. Overall, it is a small museum, yet it fulfills the niche due to limited local options for NE Mississippi and NW Alabama."

Sidney Ashton

"Very enjoyable and quite a few items to see. Well worth the money and time spent. Small gift shop that offers interesting earrings, shark tooth necklaces as well as meteorite necklaces. Took us maybe 30 minutes to see everything but worth the $5 admission - HIGHLY RECOMMEND going to the 3rd floor for the bee hive/exhibit -- it allows outside bees into their process and quite and amazing thing to see!"

Sarah Oliver

"We visited the museum during a walk around campus. We wanted to see the Sylacauga meteorite. The admission fee is only $5 and well worth the price."
