In town, West side Ukiah is really good to walk. There's Low Gap Park and Todd Grove Park. And Ukiah has nice big oak trees with shade in most areas. 30 minutes up Orr Springs Road, there's Montgomery Woods.

"Was staying in Ukiah the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend, on my way from Redwood State Park to Sacramento. Went for the City View trail Monday morning. Tried getting to the U via the U Access Trail, but it was getting too steep and long, and needed to be back at the hotel to checkout by 11, so didn't go to the summit. Some people later told me that it was quite far, so good decision. Still a good trail run - 4 miles total with 900 ft elevation gain."
