"We tried to go to ice cream festival on Memorial Day weekend after spending the day sightseeing in Coshocton. We arrived 30 minutes before closing and the only parking available was $10. We kept driving. I had been to the festival years ago and don’t remember a parking fee. We visited several weeks later that’s not a festival day and was able to enjoy ice cream on the patio. Ice cream was delicious. There is a playground area for the kids. Parking was free."

It’s like stepping back in time, where a peaceful and family-friendly vibe envelops you. The outdoor areas are a haven for relaxation and enjoyment. Picnic tables, a playground, and a catch-and-release fishing pond cater to both kids and adults alike.

But the real star of the show is Velvet Ice Cream. With over a century of crafting premium ice cream, they’ve earned a stellar reputation. I savored their signature Buckeye Classic, a heavenly fusion of peanut butter and chocolate. Rich, creamy, and utterly indulgent, it was a taste of pure bliss. The flavor variety is impressive, with over 40 options to choose from, including classic favorites like vanilla and chocolate, as well as unique seasonal creations.

Nevertheless, you’re truly paying for the overall experience, and in that regard, it’s an investment worth making. Just be sure to save room for dessert!

Families will find plenty of activities to keep their children entertained. Feeding the ducks at the pond and enjoying the playground are just a few options. However, I was disappointed to learn that the factory tours, which provide a behind-the-scenes look at the ice cream-making process, are only available on weekdays. Plan accordingly if this is a must-do for you. Additionally, Ye Olde Mill is a seasonal attraction, open from May to October, so ensure your visit aligns with these months.

A few practical tips: if you want to feed the ducks or utilize some of the smaller amenities, consider bringing cash. Visiting on a weekday can also help avoid the weekend crowds, especially during peak summer months or special events like the Utica Ice Cream Festival over Memorial Day weekend. The staff was friendly and helpful, but service in the restaurant can be slow during busy times, so patience is key.
