"As a wedding photographer based in the Vail Valley, Piney River Ranch holds a special place in my heart and is a venue I will never get sick of documenting a day at. Tucked at the edge of a pristine alpine lake with sweeping Gore Range views, it’s one of Colorado’s most iconic and breathtaking wedding backdrops.
The journey to Piney is part of the adventure—guests arrive along a winding dirt road that builds anticipation for what’s to come. And once you arrive? It’s pure magic and the staff is wonderful. Whether you're exchanging vows with the mountains mirrored in the water or dancing beneath a canopy of stars, it’s a setting that never stops inspiring.
I’ve photographed everything from engagement sessions to intimate elopements to full wedding weekends at Piney, and the light, landscape, and energy are different every time—but always unforgettable. For couples wanting a location that feels adventurous, grounded in nature, and completely unique to Colorado, Piney is the kind of place that makes your day feel like a storybook. It's also a rare wedding venue in the valley (that isn't a hotel) where you have the option to buy-out cabins and/or tents for guests!"

"Beautiful lake with a uniquely remote canoe rental. Caught trout all day. Staff, especially the canoe girls, are funny and have a great attitude. Saw a moose and her kids from up close too. Thanks all"

"What a magical place! There is really something for everyone here. Fishing, water activities, hiking, trail running or just watching the sunsets/sunrises from the cabins. My families has made some of our most favorite memories here and this place will always hold a special place in our hearts. The management and staff is top notch creating this perfect, special place for everyone to enjoy. Could not recommend this more as a day trip or a longer stay!!! The cabins and tents are perfectly equipped for families with all the things you’d need. Don’t miss the spicy margs in the restaurant and all the beautiful things in the gift shop!!!"
