Camping in valdez?

I need help finding some optimal places to tent camp in Valdez for the labor day weekend. We've never been and looking online is rather difficult. We would want to camp for 2-3 days, and try to hike, and even glacier kyack. So any info helps, thanks in advance!

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about the stunning, serene beauty of Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site, often highlighting the peaceful solitude and breathtaking mountain and lake views. Many appreciate the quiet atmosphere and the feeling of having a private retreat. While facilities are basic and it's a dry campground, the natural splendor and tranquility make it a highly recommended spot for a refreshing escape.

"I can’t say enough how stunning Blueberry Lake Campground is! We stayed just one night, but it felt like a peaceful little slice of heaven. The best part? We were the only campers there, so it felt like our own private retreat surrounded by breathtaking mountain views and the calm alpine lake. The scenery alone makes it worth the trip.

I really wish we’d stayed longer instead of heading off to the nightmare campground we ended up at in Glenallen. Blueberry Lake’s quiet, natural beauty and solitude made our short stay feel so refreshing and special. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with incredible views and minimal crowds, this is absolutely the place to be.

Just a heads up: the facilities are basic but clean, and it’s a dry campground with no hookups. Bring what you need, and prepare for some chillier nights at elevation.

Highly recommend! I’m already planning my return visit."

"Camp in the clouds at Blueberry Lake State Recreation Site!

My wife and I reserved campsite #10 for one night. We disconnected the trailer and spent the day visiting Valdez. We returned in the early afternoon and watched the clouds float over the mountains.

The flies here (may) eat you alive, so bring netting. The campground was very quiet with some campers biking and walking on the road. The temperatures were comfortable, but you’ll want to keep the rain jacket handy for the sudden sprinkles.

The road in the campground is in good condition, so don’t worry about large pot holes or giant cracks. You’ll want to slow down before you reach dips, but otherwise the road is easy to navigate.

If you’re looking for a dry campsite with privacy and a fantastic view of the mountains then you’ll want to reserve campsite #10.

"This campground was absolutely magical. We reserved campsite #9 because on the map it showed there was a tent space behind the main area. Upon arrival we realized this tent space was on a flat part of the mountain with 270 degree views of mountain tops and glaciers.

This is hands down the most beautiful place we have ever stayed at. The camp host was very friendly and her and her dog paid us a visit to make sure we had everything we needed.

We camped multiple places throughout Alaska and this is the one we would recommend the most. Absolutely will be back here one day."
