"I was staioned on Mare Island as a Marine from 3/1985-9/1988. Mare Island Cemetary was never open, over grown and inaccessible. I visited 10/18/2025 and was overwhelemd with how well the cemetary looked. It was cleaned for the first time that I have seen. I spent about an hour visiting the souls that live there. Kudos to the Sacramento Valley National Cemetary for maintaining it."

"A beautiful, peaceful, historic and sacred place. On a sunny day it's a perfect place to visit and contemplate life's big questions. Should get more love as far as care taking but it does drive home that no matter who you are we're only here for a brief time."

"Charming and well groomed."
