"What a great little secret spot before heading west over Donner Pass off highway 80 in Verdi. If you need to stretch your, kids, or pets legs you can do so with a little walk along the short pond walk, or venture on the interpretive trail and find a resting spot along the Truckee River. Take your kid fishing at the two stocked ponds, or try your luck on the Truckee (you DO need a NV fishing license). Parking and clean restrooms are available, plus you return to I80 via Boomtown and the giant Cabelas store, a gas station, BW Hotel and Casino, and a few restaurants."
