Reviews Summary

Steinaker State Park offers a pleasant reservoir experience with a sandy beach and good fishing, though some find the campground upkeep could be improved. Visitors appreciate the scenic views, especially at sunset, and unique activities like scorpion hunts. While generally positive, some note the mucky shorelines and the cost of camping for the amenities provided.

"This is a wonderful park in northeastern Utah with lake and sandy beaches to sunbathe, and enjoy swimming for entry fee of just $5 for seniors! It’s near Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area and Vernal’s dinosaur marvels. Plan a flight to Salt Lake City then drive around 2 hours east to Vernal through beautiful mountain country!"

ISHTIAQ VALI

"Overall the park was pretty so-so. It borders the reservoir which is pretty, but nothing to write home about. The shore is super mucky and not very suitable for swimming or anything else. The campground seems fairly neglected with very little time spent on care or upkeep. The garbages were emptied and the bathrooms were fairly clean. I wouldn’t spend more than a night here again. The price for the stay for only electric is a little steep for a state park IMO. Our spot 22 was the best though because of all the shade from the trees. It was peaceful and fun to watch all the birds in our campsite in the mornings."

Lorrie Kalmbach-Ehlers

"Definitely worth it if you have your state pass. A wholesome spot for you and your family to swim, but also a great fishing spot for anyone! The fish there are bass, trout, bluegill, and much more! The beaches can be muddy and have burrs, but they’re normally comfortable and nice to stay at! I’ve personally caught tons of bass and I normally don’t have any problems catching fish. Definitely 5 stars!"
