What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the stunning views of the Mississippi River and its bridges, making it a worthwhile stop for a photo opportunity and a chance to stretch their legs. The property is generally well-maintained, and the interior restrooms are better than the exterior ones. However, some guests note issues with restroom cleanliness and vending machine functionality, and the footbridge is not always accessible.
"The view is beautiful off the back of the property! There are 2 bridges going over the Mississippi River and the property is well maintained! The outside access restrooms are not very well kept. The inside access restrooms are much better! They have a little pet area and a little wooden foot bridge you can walk along. They have a couple vending machines on the opposite side of the building which is great but neither of them would take cash and the card reader was down on both. Overall it was still a nice place to stop and it was worth the photo op!!"

"This is a beautiful stop to stretch your legs but not the cleanest bathrooms by any means. There’s plenty of spots to relax and just look at the beautiful bridges and guides as per usual for a welcome center. The foot bridge is open randomly but there is a website you can check. It was closed to public today so I couldn’t tell you about it. I have came to this rest area multiple times and it has always been closed. Overall nice area to stop. But does loose a star for the poor bathroom experience. At least the toilets were cleanish."

"I always enjoy stopping at this spot during my travels—it offers stunning views of the Mississippi River and the iconic bridges that cross it. The visitor center’s unique architecture has always caught my eye, though during this visit I learned that it's slated for demolition to make way for a more modern facility. While I appreciate the vision for the future, I’ll miss the classic colonnade design that gave the structure its charm. This was my first time going inside, and although it’s a beautiful space, it did carry a somber vibe of funeral home that made the planned update feel justified. I’m genuinely curious to see how the new structure will honor the location’s character while bringing a fresh experience."
