What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Wildwood State Park for its beautiful beach, extensive hiking trails, and family-friendly playground, all at an affordable price. While some note that bathrooms can get dirty by day's end and summer weekends are very crowded, the overall sentiment is positive, highlighting its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty.
"Fun, Medium-sized park that's fenced in with an open entrance. It overlooks a large picnic area with bathrooms within sight and walking distance. It is right off of the parking lot, too. When you enter Wildwood, it is off to the left, in the corner right past the small concession/bathroom area, right past the picnic ground, fenced in. Surrounded by woods in the back and right side, it is well kept, and clear of branches and leaves. Last time we were there, they were raking leaves and removing branches after a windy night. I'm sure this place is super busy during summertime and early fall, but we have been coming since mid October, and there has been very little foot traffic. Sometimes there will be a few scattered vehicles from people enjoying the trails or waterfront, a few random families at picnic tables, someone walking a dog, etc. Either we will be the only ones at the playground or a family or two will filter in and out while we're there, so it's been a nice place to go when the weather permits, but we don't want the overwhelming chaos of the local parks. The playground is well maintained and appears up to date, with plenty of options for kids of all ages, including the younger ones. My son likes to alternate between riding his bike and playing on the playsets, which seem safer but as entertaining as the bigger local parks. There is some sandy parts and soft ground material which was a nice surprise as my son is a wild child. The playground allows for you to keep eyes on multiple kiddos but I never like when there isn't a full enclosure, as the parking lot is only a few steps off despite the fence. Anyways, this park is equipped with 2 playsets (5 & under, 5 & older), 2 swingsets, a see saw, a single person spinning thing (??), a double climbing wall, walking/bike riding area, with sand and softland material near equipment. My 3.5 year old LOVES this park. It overlooks the picnic area, which is nice if you have older kids and come to hang out or have a BBQ since you can see them close by. Definitely recommend coming here, but we have only been here maybe 4 times in the off-season, and there hasn't been a crowd or anything to compare it to."

"Fun and inexpensive camping site. Bathroom is pretty dirty by the end of the day but gets cleaned every morning so not too bad. We went on a summer weekend so it was very packed but it was still really fun. Saw deer and groundhog. The beach was pretty nice. There are also basketball courts and a little store that rents fire pits and wood on site. Plus nearby there’s a farm where you can pick your own fruits and veggies! We loved it overall."
