No that’s not a field. Aquatic plants have completely taken Over Twin Lakes in Wantagh (and many other LI Water bodies).

Twin Lakes would be a beautiful preserve if not for the insane amount of overgrowth and the trash everywhere. I also wish, as a fisherman, it wasn’t so pressured, but there’s no way around that part.

Reviews Summary

Twin Lakes Preserve is a tranquil, free nature spot appreciated for its abundant wildlife and peaceful lake views. Visitors enjoy leisurely walks and birdwatching opportunities. However, be mindful of prevalent poison ivy, limited parking, and occasional litter and overgrowth.

"This is really beautiful tranquil park. There's very little parking, so be prepared to walk. A few blocks in order to park in a secure place. There is a lot of poison ivy and that is something that should be maintained more by the town, but it's not. There is some graffiti and there's minimal garbage. But for the most part it's a nice preserve. There are a lot of ducks, geese, and other wildlife. This is also a great place for bird watchers.

It's not really a place where you go running. Because the ground is unstable with a lot of overgrown branches. It's nice to bring kids but not completely around the preserve due to the poison ivy factor. However, if you wanted to sit from the street and pier over the entire lake, it's very paceful.

There is no charge to visit the park."
