Reviews Summary

Visitors find Barrington Plantation a peaceful and authentic step back in time, appreciating the living history demonstrations and knowledgeable staff. While some note a lack of detailed signage, the immersive experience with animals and costumed interpreters is highly praised, making it a worthwhile visit for families and history buffs.

"So peaceful. What a nice spot for a homestead. Takes you back to a more simple time, but I can only imagine the struggles they went through. We take our modern conveniences for granted."

David C.

"Visited Washington-on-Brazos (Temp. closed to renovation) and Barrington Farm. The Barrington Farm was a great historical walk-thru (visually-lacking informationaly). Live animals, real crops, staff members in period era attire. Was a bit different, no plaques, no informational history anywhere detailing anything. If you wanna know about something or have questions you have to go find a staff member. Other than that it is like you have free reign to just stroll through someone's farm. Id say the whole experience will probably take you about 45 minutes to an hour apx.

I would stop by if you're in the area and wanna get out for awhile and see something different, otherwise I'd recommend waiting until Washington-on-the-Brazos reopens so there is more on site to see and do; as to when that is officially check their website for details."

"This place is truly AWESOME for families and history nerds like us! It was a super hot day when we went, but my son absolutely LOVED the workers in period clothing. All staff or volunteers were exceptionally friendly and answered our questions about the tools they used, how they smoked meat in the smoke house, the animals on the plantation, and the furniture in the home. If you love learning about our great state, or you just want to step back in time, this truly was more awesome than I thought it was going to be!"
