Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception for its breathtaking architecture, stunning mosaic art, and deeply spiritual atmosphere. Many find it world-class, even comparing it favorably to European cathedrals. While some note it can get crowded on weekends, the peacefulness and beauty make it a highly recommended destination for reflection and admiration.

"I would say that this shrine is almost as beautiful as the Notre-Dame Cathedral Of Paris. A replica of all the shrines representing every country can be seen here. The architecture is absolutely stunning and of course the environ of the place is simply blissful. I thoroughly enjoyed meditating at Mother Mary's shrine. I would suggest that one should wear comfortable shoes as there is a lot of ground to walk and preferably to visit on a weekday as the weekend gets crowded especially during the service. Please take time and sit at the cathedral."

Manasa

"This is one of my most favorite places in the entire world. And I could spend hours in this building it is so peaceful and beautiful. Everywhere you turn there is inspiring and gorgeous art drawing out deep biblical and historical insights into traditional Apostolic christianity."

Justin West

"I have been to cathedrals in Paris, Rome, Madrid, and London. This place is world-class. I surprisingly liked it better than the nearby National Cathedral (also spectacular).

The Basilica is on the grounds of the Catholic University of America, which means the breathtaking architecture is surrounded by other magnificent buildings and and beautiful greenery.

I wish I could give this edifice ten stars out of five. The mosaic work inside is unmatched, and the crypt is as modern, clean, spacious, and open as I have ever seen. The chapel in the crypt is stunning as well."
