I went to Rib Mountain State Park for the first time and instead of grand views from the third highest point in Wisconsin, I was greeted with fog and rain.
More like greeted with kick ass photo ops. Nice shot!

Hike in Rib Mountain State Park
I want to pick up more hiking and backpacking next year. Where should I go around Wisconsin and what do I need to know?
I've done plenty of shorter hikes on day trips in the Madison area so far, but I want to get more into some longer full day hiking trips, weekend trips with overnight camping, and possibly backpacking the camping gear in for the weekend trips. Areas like Devil's Lake, Gov.…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Rib Mountain State Park for its stunning natural beauty, especially the breathtaking panoramic views from the observation tower and the vibrant fall colors. The unique ancient rock formations and diverse hiking trails are also highly appreciated. Some note that concession stands are seasonal and advise bringing your own snacks.
"We made a quick stop at Rib Mountain State Park while passing through the area. Unfortunately, we didn’t have enough time to explore it at a leisurely pace, and since it was only October 1st, the fall colors hadn’t fully developed yet — not quite enough to convince me to pay for a full visit this time.
However, what I could see from the parking area near the entrance, combined with the park's potential and the presence of the scenic observation tower, definitely strengthened my desire to return. I’m planning to come back in about two weeks with more of my family, when the autumn foliage will hopefully be at its peak, so we can fully enjoy this unique and beautiful place.
Most likely, I’ll update my review after that visit — with lots of vibrant and exciting new photos!"

"It felt like the forest was covered in gold during this time of the year. Beautiful place to visit and climb giant rock structures. The observatory Tower overlooks all the trees and allows you to see the urban side and the natural side. We went when the trees were yellow and orange which brings beautiful pots of color. Sadly last weekend might've been the last to enjoy the concession stand in the middle of the park so look forward to snacks in the spring and summer season, but for now, bring your own snacks."

"Very nice state park. Lots of hiking options, from a quick path to the lookout tower to the longer yellow and blue trails. Great views. Fall color was started but not peak. Definitely worth it if you near by."
