What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Epperson Lagoon offers a unique man-made beach experience with a fun inflatable obstacle course, but some visitors find the water cold and the food/drink options limited and expensive. While many enjoy the relaxing atmosphere and family-friendly activities, a few reviewers felt it ranked lower than other similar attractions.
"Epperson Lagoon is nice and relaxing—until you jump into the pool and realize how cold the water is! There are so many people just standing around at the bar enjoying their drinks. I love the area and the relaxing atmosphere, but this place really needs some upgrades to look better and serve better food. The menu is limited—mostly just burgers and fries. The drinks are bland and not that great. Still, I really love the atmosphere. So far, Mirada Lagoon is much better, and their Bahama Mama is really good too!"

"I’ve been to a few metro lagoons, and unfortunately, this one ranks at the bottom.
First, don’t waste your money on the “premium” umbrella and lounge chairs. Lounge chairs are free on a first-come, first-serve basis, and you can set up right on the beach with your own beach umbrellas. But if you pay extra, you’re stuck on the concrete sidewalk with a view of… other people walking by. Super lazy on management’s part to charge for that.
I opened a tab at the “swim-up bar” — except you can’t actually swim to it. Most of the lagoon is closed off for water activities, which were fun and worth the extra charge. But the bar? Have to come out of the pool walk on the sidewalk and get back in. Total flop.
Tried the tiki bar next and it somehow got worse. One bartender working on a packed Saturday. I waited over 30 minutes in line while people would sit at the bar skipped the line completely and got served right away.
It was a mess, plain and simple. Could’ve gone to Volcano Bay for what we spent for two adults and six kids. Skip this place, parents. It’s just not worth it."

"My family and I had a fantastic experience at Epperson Lagoon. We arrived early to secure a good spot near the zero-entry area. We paid a little extra for access to all the amenities they offered. The obstacle course was a lot of fun and quite challenging; you had to be careful not to slip off and find a way back up onto the floats. I found the water to be both relaxing and refreshing. I recommend bringing a pool noodle to help you float in the deep areas, as they are extremely deep. I wish we lived closer so we could get a yearly pass to this place. It’s really fun for the whole family, with something for everyone to enjoy."

Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
To maximize the family experience, consider purchasing an all-day pass or Splash Pass which often includes access to most activities. Bringing a pool noodle can help younger or less confident swimmers enjoy the deeper areas. While food options are limited and pricey, bringing your own canteens for drinks can help manage costs. Free seating is available, so arriving early can secure a good spot for the family.
💸 Budget Travelers
Key money-saving tips include bringing your own canteen for drinks and arriving early to claim free lounge chairs and beach spots, avoiding paid premium seating. Consider if the 'Splash Pass' offers enough value for the activities you plan to do, or if a standard day pass is sufficient. Visiting on a weekday can also sometimes offer a more relaxed experience at a potentially lower crowd level.
couples

Pack some snacks or plan for a casual meal, keeping in mind the pricing. The overall atmosphere can be quite pleasant for a day of sun and swimming.

In-depth insights and expert knowledge
Understanding Metro Lagoons and Crystal Lagoons
These lagoons are often integrated into master-planned communities, serving as a central amenity for residents and, in some cases, open to the public through day passes or memberships. Epperson Lagoon, also known as Metro Lagoons Epperson or Lagoon at Epperson, is one such development. While the concept is innovative, visitor experiences can vary, with some finding them to be a fantastic recreational escape and others noting limitations in size or amenities compared to natural beaches or larger theme parks.
Navigating Activities and Amenities
The swim-up bar is another advertised amenity, though some guests have found its accessibility to be less than ideal, sometimes requiring them to exit and re-enter the lagoon. When it comes to seating, while there are premium options, free lounge chairs are available on a first-come, first-served basis, often with good beach access. Visitors are also permitted to bring their own canteens and umbrellas, which can help manage costs for drinks and shade.
Food, Drinks, and Value for Money
Crucially, prices for food and beverages are often compared to those at amusement parks, indicating they can be quite high. This has led some visitors to question the overall value, especially when considering the cost of entry and any additional activity fees. While some reviewers felt a day pass offered good value on a weekday, others felt the total expenditure for a family could rival that of larger theme parks like Volcano Bay. Bringing your own canteen is a frequently recommended strategy to mitigate drink expenses.
