"We had a great time horse back riding. We are both experienced riders but the guides made it easy for even those who had never been on a horse. The ride was beautiful and our guides were fun and personable. Would go back, only I think next time we would do a private ride."
Tanya Bryson
"We did the one hour trail ride around Swiftcurrent Lake in Many Glacier. The guides put safety first and even as an inexperienced rider I felt comfortable. Beautiful scenery in the woods with occasional lake and Mountain views. I knew what to expect because I read their trail ride offerings and paid attention to which trails they would be on! Suggest you do the same! Bozeman the horse was friendly and very careful carrying his rider. We had a lot of fun and would ride with this outfitter again. Thanks to the hard working guides!"
Larissa Root
"First of all our guides Guy and Tate were outstanding. We did the cowboy cookout and my boy Tate cooked a mean beef filet. Guy was very attentive to the needs of all the riders and horses.
If you’re coming to GNP for the first time go ahead and book the cowboy cookout with Swan Mountain Outfitters."

Choosing Your Perfect Trail Ride
If you're looking to explore the iconic landscapes of Glacier National Park, their Many Glacier trail rides are highly recommended. These rides can take you around Swiftcurrent Lake or into the picturesque Piegan Valley, offering stunning views of mountains, forests, and potentially even lakes. For those who prefer a more intimate experience, private rides are available, allowing you to customize your adventure and enjoy the scenery at your own pace.
When selecting your ride, consider your comfort level with horses. While all guides are experienced and prioritize safety, longer rides might involve more varied terrain. Reviewing the ride descriptions on their website and discussing your experience with the booking staff can help ensure you choose the perfect adventure for you.
Safety and Rider Experience
For riders, wearing appropriate attire is key to comfort and safety. Long pants, such as jeans, and closed-toe shoes like boots or sturdy sneakers are essential. This protects your legs from chafing and ensures your feet are secure in the stirrups. While the horses are generally well-trained and gentle, it's always important to follow your guide's instructions closely, especially when encountering wildlife or navigating challenging terrain.
Capturing the Montana Magic
While riding, it's important to keep your camera or phone secure. Many riders opt for a small bag or a secure pocket to prevent accidental drops. If you're lucky enough to spot wildlife, remember to maintain a safe distance and let your guide manage the situation. Capturing a photo of a bear or other local fauna from a safe vantage point can be a highlight of your trip. The Cowboy Cookout also offers unique photo opportunities, blending the rustic charm of the meal with the natural beauty of the surroundings.
