What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
The J.V. Fletcher Library is appreciated for its extensive audiobook collection and welcoming spaces for children and teens. However, recent renovations have impacted the popular book sale, leading to a less than ideal experience in a temporary, cramped location. Environmental concerns regarding tree removal have also been raised by some residents.
"I’ve lived in the Westford area for 33 years, and seeing the healthy, beautiful trees around Westford Library being cut down broke my heart. These trees have been a vital part of our community for decades—home to countless birds and wildlife, and a peaceful refuge for all of us. Watching them fall felt like losing a piece of what makes this place special.
It’s hard to understand why such thriving, living landmarks were removed, especially when they meant so much to those of us who cherish this neighborhood’s natural beauty. This wasn’t just about trees—it was about erasing part of our community’s history and the sanctuary for so many creatures.
I hope the decision-makers hear us and commit to planting many more trees, valuing the wildlife and people who depend on these green spaces. Our community deserves progress that honors the environment and preserves what makes Westford so wonderful.
See the before and after photos. The trees with orange ribbons around them are all gone now."

"I’ve always been thrilled to attend the.library book sale at the J. V. Fletcher library. I purchase a Friends membership so I have the privilege to gain access to the 1st day of the 3-day library sale. Yesterday was the 1st time the location was relocated to the church next door while the library is in current renovations. I realize that the library probably had limited resources available for its book sale. However, I must say that I was extremely disappointed and frustrated while attending this sale. The room was much too small. Everything was too chaotic. You barely had room to move around and was always bumping into someone. Also I had extreme limited access to the available books. There were many boxes under the table and we were told that we were not allowed to open them. I had to stand and wait patiently until one of your helpers opened a box to put more books on the table. This did not happen too often. Finally I had to leave bc not too many boxes were being opened (this was the Cookbook table) and after 1/2 hr of waiting I had to leave. The room was too cramped and it was getting hot. I felt really bad about this bc I’m sure I could have bought many more books if they were made available.
I feel that I’m paying membership to get access to the books, I should be able to. It’s not fair to only have access to 25-33% of the books. I live 25 miles away and don’t want to come back another day. I understand you’re in a new location, space was tight, and maybe didn’t have enough helpers this yr (frankly there would not have enough rm for them), but I think you need to re-examine the logistics of having the book sale in the basement room of the church. It simply doesn’t work. I see on your new bookmarkers that there will be another sale in Nov. I really don’t want to return to the same location but will do so only bc I just pd for a new membership. I truly would love to continue to support your library but, I probably won’t return after my membership expires, unless the bk sale is relocated elsewhere or I’ll have to wait until the library renovations are complete."

"Very large library with an exceptional collection of audio books (CD and playaway). Also has some great areas for kids and teens. Multiple tables and areas to hang out or read comfortably. Their used books for sale were also pretty good."
