I want to do a day trip to explore the SW corner of wa (in the circle). Got any cool places to add to my list??

The north head lighthouse in Ilwaco is nice and easy to get to. Also Ft. Stevens park, Battery Russell, Fort Clatsop, Fort Columbia, the Astoria tower

Best of the major beach vacation towns? Long Beach VS Westport VS ocean shores

I recently had a bit of a disagreement with my mom over which of the 3 major beach towns were the best to visit, she’s staunchly for Westport through and through but I don’t necessarily agree since Long Beach and ocean shores have Westport beaten handedly in some aspects, what…

What is your favorite beach town of our Southwest beaches (Long Beach, Ocean Shores, etc.) particularly during the off-season?

I like driving on the beach, doing photography, hiking, finding a good cafe for breakfast, just chilling, watching the surf. I've only been to Ocean Shores. Just wondering if you had any recommendations for places to stay/ things to see/ places to eat for a weekend…

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Grays Harbor Lighthouse for its knowledgeable guides, breathtaking views from the top, and the historical charm of the museum. Many highlight the manageable climb and the overall value for the small admission fee. Some note that GPS can be tricky, and weekends can be busy, but the experience is overwhelmingly positive.

"Keith was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about his job! That passion and knowledge that he showed made me appreciate lighthouses. We have seen many along the Oregon and Washington coast but he is the first person to make me truly appreciate a lighthouse. It was definitely worth the extra time it took us to go out of our way. Thank you Keith!"

"The lighthouse is amazing! We went early on Saturday (05/10/25) and didn't have to wait. We were welcomed immediately and escorted to the gift shop to buy our tickets. From there we went to the lighthouse and began our trek. We were able to look at everything at the entrance and climb up the 135 steps at our own pace. When we got to the top of the main stairs we met a guide that took us to the very top where the lens is located. The guide was very knowledgeable! The views were amazing! The trek down was self-paced and we had no problems! Totally worth it. My kiddo (9) had no problems going up and down the stairs. GPS had tried to take us down the closed driveway. There's plenty of free street parking and it's a short walk to the lighthouse. At the time of this review, it was $5 each to go up to the top. We saw other visitors who just wanted to look and take pictures which is free. I recommend going to the top! How often do you get to go inside a lighthouse!?"

"It really didn't feel like as many steps as it says it is, and the view is incredible. The person at the top was knowledgeable about the lens, and had a bunch of other cool facts. Keep our lighthouses alive!"
