"I just like seeing suspension bridges. This was a very nice stop on a PA to OH and back road trip on Labor Day weekend. There is a road closed sign in front of the bridge but that’s just for vehicles. You can walk or bike across it. It was a beautiful day. We really enjoyed walking across and seeing the river. There is no fee and no ticket required. We parked on the street a half a block away.
This is on the National Road heritage trail - there is a little info sign about the history of the bridge and the trail right there too.
If you are parked on the side where heritage port is, you are crossing over to Wheeling Island and vice versa."
