The tranquil atmosphere and complimentary kayaking are also frequently highlighted as major draws. "We spent a lovely weekend at the Whitehaven. It has spectacular views of the Wicomico River and surrounding marshes. The hotel provides free use of its kayaks, and their is a kayak water trail through the marshes nearby. (At high tide, it was a two-hour paddle out and back.) Cindy Curran, the innkeeper, was friendly, helpful and an amazingly good cook. Our breakfasts were lavish."

"What a charming place this is, and we feel so fortunate to have found it. The short ferry ride across the river, nests of osprey nearby, beautiful gardens, the magnificent restoration of this early 19th century structure, all added up to a memorable stay. And, of course, Cynthia's gourmet breakfast to top it all off."

"My wife and I stayed for an overnight for a quick get-a-away from the hustle & bustle. Great location right next to the Whitehaven Ferry and lots of wildlife to enjoy around t he adjacent river and wetlands. Our host Cindy was very attentive and had lots of stories to share about the Hotel's history - ask to view some of the old TV press coverage during last renovation! Recommend checking out nearby Red Roost for dinner, then slip down to the 'end of the road' to Bull Lips Dock Bar for a nightcap with a great view right on the river. Only one recommendation for improvement: addition of a built-in firepit out near the garden area off SE corner of hotel!"
