What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Hassayampa River Canyon Wilderness for its rugged beauty and off-road opportunities, especially in Box Canyon. It's a great spot for family adventures with Jeeps and SXS vehicles. However, some caution that the terrain is primitive and requires physical fitness and desert knowledge, making it unsuitable for the average tourist or those navigationally challenged.
"I've been to the area a couple of times. I love taking the sxs to the river. All sections were passable in our Polaris RZR Pro XP"
Chris Knight
"Great beautiful place. Awesome place to take the kids and the jeep. Beautiful and needs to be seen my all."
Rickele Orr
"This area,in general, provides some of Arizona's more rugged, primitive and nearly raw mountainous desert terrain. It's beautiful beyond my ability to describe, but it's not for the average tourist, those who aren't physically fit and desert wise. I believe it is important to strongly caution anyone who is "navigationally challenged" that it probably would be far smarter to enjoy Arizona in more forgiving territory.
With all that stuff out of the way, a visit up there to camp, hike, meditate peacefully or whatever one's love of the wilder outdoors may require is damn well worth the effort. This region happens to also be very, very interesting from a geological standpoint, too.
I'd just say be fit,be wise,be careful,and be happy. I did!"
