What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Wild Horse Window for its unique geological formations, especially the echo-producing arch, and the enjoyable, moderate hike. The accessibility via a 2WD road and free entry are also highlights. Some find the trail navigation challenging due to inconsistent cairns and lack of shade.
"Easy little trail to see a cave area. There were people repelling down from the top of the cave, which was also cool to watch. There is a campsite down the street from here but it also looked like there were several people dispersed camping in the area. There is no shade on this trail. Make sure to bring more water than what you think you'll need. I'd also recommend downloading the Alltrails trail if you're trying to hike the wild horse window because there are several trails that intersect and there are several cairns that make it a bit confusing and easy to get lost. The views are nice, overall, and the trail was 2.15 miles according to my Strava app.
The road to this trailhead is a dirt road but a 2wd vehicle would make it just fine.
There isn't a restroom at this trailhead but if you drive to the campground about 6 mins away, there's a vault toilet there."

"Well worth the ups and downs on the rock to make it there. There are numerous rock stacks to follow but as long as you’re going semi straight- you’ll end up where you need to go. You can see it off in the distance but looks can be deceiving. Although it was one mile there, you are up and down steep rock. It is a moderate to strenuous hike given the alter terrain and sand you walk through. If you stand near or in the window you can echo for miles! So neat and cute hidden gem before goblin valley state park!"
Kelly Elrod
"Easy and pleasant hike. The end arches looked magical and can echo if you stand at the right distance. Trailhead was initially not easy to find. The short dirt road leads from the main road to the trailhead wasn’t marked out on google map. The location of the trailhead is accurate. And there are quite a few dispersed campsites around here with great view although not so secluded."
