What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
New Quarter Park is praised for its well-maintained, easy-to-navigate trails suitable for walking, running, and birdwatching. Visitors appreciate the numerous picnic shelters, disc golf course, and family-friendly playground. Some find the disc golf course layout a bit confusing for first-timers, and occasional issues with invasive plants are noted.
"Beautiful park — great for trail running! Easy to get 3-6 miles in. Virginia bluebird society bird boxes, historical markers about park, some grouse (?) habitat restoration with a small prairie — issue with lots of Autumn Olive invasives, though, which should get cut and sprayed if possible. Very cool disc golf course that seems to host local tournaments. Lots of BBQ pavilions, a very large campfire put, plenty of lovely benches to sit and think on. Some of the markers are dirty and/pr overgrown, but prob an easy fix. Trails maintained by the Tidewater Appalachian Trail Club, which is awesome. Altogether a delightful park!
All together, lovely park!"

"An interesting park. My GPS took me to what I guess was the back entrance, and the gates were closed, so I could not get in that way. I hiked from there about 8/10 of a mile down to the Rangers station and playground. Then I went on down to the floating dock canoe launch. They have some nice trails. They also have disc golf, and bicycle trails that looked extremely challenging to me. There's a softball park, basketball, backboards, and tennis courts. That's all that I saw but that doesn't mean that's all that there is. The canoe launch area, though, seemed a little odd to me. If you drive down there with a canoe, I don't know how you turn your car around to get back up that hill. There are photos. They're also seem to be a lot of planned activities."

"If you are looking for a easy, smooth trail with little to no incline on hills this is your park. Nice clean, with a lot of signs posted on loops it’s hard to get lost on on your walk. Clean playgrounds, a lot of trash cans, clean bathrooms, not much trash around. If you are into disc golf they have a large course. Also, basketball court, and a volleyball court. Walking trails are a series of loops totaling about 3 miles. Also, a bike trail that runs 7 miles. Parking should not be an issue, many different shelters to cookout or have family get togethers. Also a fire pit, and horseshoe pit.
If you are a beginner this is a nice park to walk. If you are into Kayaking they have that also. If you are into birds you can enjoy bird walks.
Again, nice, safe, clean, a lot of signs to keep you from getting lost."
