"Hiking Trail Review
Squire's Castle at North Chagrin - 2.4 Miles
The trail head can be easily found and you can walk it in either direction. The parking lot is free with plenty of space. There are many intersections to expand your hike as desired. The trail itself is very well maintained and marked. Somewhat bland, foresty path but very relaxing. The castle at the end is super exciting and has a lot of history inside with information. Definitely worth hitting up if you are in the area."

"Hidden Gem!! Amazing trails, lots of space for picnics, and the castle is beautiful. If you want pictures, try getting there earlier. Sometimes the castle has a crowd, but if you don’t mind, then you do you!"

"What a curious idea was to build a gatekeeper’s house in castle-like style. It’s a pity that Feargus Squire, executive of Standard Oil, never got to build an intended grand estate. Completed in 1897 gatehouse had three stories and basement along with library on the first floor. After property was purchased by Metroparks from bankrupt real estate developer (who bought it from Squire), they had to remove upper floors and seal the basement to make it safe for visitors. As plaque in the castle mentions, it is a visitor imagination’s task to picture how summers could have been enjoyed on the property…"
