What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Brandywine Creek State Park for its beautiful natural scenery, well-maintained trails, and peaceful atmosphere. The historic stone walls add a unique charm, and the Nature Center is a hit with families. Some concerns have been raised regarding the presence of homeless encampments and associated safety issues, which detract from the otherwise positive experience for some.
"Beautiful views and lots of parking. The disc golf course is really nice and has a lot of good changes in elevation so it makes for a great leg workout."
Mark Tubbs
"Love that we have the Brandywine so close to our home, it’s my happy place.
Although, since Delaware is so whacked they’re letting the homeless move in. Be safe when you’re on the trails as some homeless have tents up. The park can’t remove them because they need to contact the homeless person first…house bill 135- stupidity.
I was told by a park personnel as well, that be careful as homeless folks tend to have mh issues/drug problems. So drug paraphernalia may be around their encampment.
Great, huh?! Keep our parks safe Delaware I am more than disgusted by your lack of concern for the citizens and park goers.
So what I took from the Brandywine when I called/ emailed was - the homeless can be dangerous and leave drug paraphernalia behind, but hey we can’t help you so good luck in the park. Be safe on your own lol."
Michele Hunt
"If you plan to hang out, make sure to get your park pass. You can get a yearly one, but I just got it for the day. Since I was out of state, it was $8.00. There are outside places to pay, but I got mine at the Nature Center. As you can see by the photos and videos, it is well worth the cost. You can also get your Passport Stamp for First State - Delaware.
The Nature Center is a must for the kids as it has a viewing room and a bunch of nature stuff to see and read. There is a mini gift shop if you want some souvenirs.
There is an area to go exploring in the woods to see some of the wildlife. Most of the area is open fields though, so good for kids to run around. There are plenty of places to picnic and there are some grills available for use. If interested, there is frisbee golf, but make sure it isn’t windy. It is pet friendly as I saw a few people with dogs."
