🌿 Did you know about this park in this coastal town? Long Leaf Park and Gardens is such a hidden gem in Wilmington! I’ve driven past it countless times on my way to Carolina and Kure Beach, but we finally decided to stop and let Tilly stretch her legs before heading home. From the road, it looks like a simple natural area with a trail, but once we explored, we found an amazing butterfly garden, a ...

Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Long Leaf Park for its natural beauty, particularly the majestic longleaf pines, and its excellent recreational facilities. The well-maintained trails, engaging fitness obstacle course, and dedicated dog park are frequently highlighted as major draws. It's seen as a versatile space for relaxation, exercise, and community events.

"This park is delightful. We visited while on vacation. We found it serendipitously. There are sidewalks but you can walk anywhere across the expansive areas. There is plenty of room for people to relax, read and rest. The dog park was well laid out with separate fenced areas for large and small dogs. There are lots of trees including the amazing loblolly pines with lots of pine cones. I collected cones for a wreath. This is a great place for birding. We saw at least 10 species in only about 20 minutes."

Kathy Parsons

"This park is absolutely amazing! Stunning pine trees are known for air purifying properties. Although I don’t have little kids I loved the playground they have built. Also a “playground” for big kids/adults. A very nice playground for dogs. There is a little pond with koi fish and turtles. I even spotted a Muscovy duck, which is native to Central/ South America, but domesticated in North America. I still can’t wrap my mind around it- what this exotic duck doing here? Alone in the park."

Anika Naneyshvili

"I'm an out of towner, and stumbled upon this lovely park. I came 2x to get my steps in the 1.5 mile trail that surrounds the park. Very well maintained."
