Fort Halifax State Historic Site is praised for its unique historical structure and peaceful park setting, offering a quick and informative visit. Visitors appreciate the free admission and the easy-to-understand historical markers. While it's a compact site with limited amenities, it's considered a worthwhile stop for history buffs and those seeking a tranquil outdoor experience.

"We went in the middle of the summer, a volunteer had just opened the old fort around 11 am. It's 2 floors of 1700's fort in Winslow. There's a stair case. It was a quick visit with my 2 kids. If your into history, and are in the Waterville area, it's worth the quick visit. I'd plan on about a half hour visit at the park. Only porta potties on site. Great picnic park."

"Absolutely beautiful, unfortunately I just learned about this location today. Unfortunately due to the extreme hot and humid weather i was only able to enjoy what I was able to see in my vehicle however I definitely will write a better review and have out of car photos next time I go when the weather is better"

"fort halifax was actually kinda cool ngl. i pulled up not expecting much cuz it’s just like… an old fort right?? but the place has a chill vibe and the history stuff is lowkey interesting even if u not a history nerd.

the area around it is super calm, good spot to just walk around n take pics. the fort itself isn’t huge or anything but it’s got that old-timey look that makes u feel like ur in some school field trip flashback 😂. signs got info on the history n battles n all that, easy to read too, not those long paragraphs that make u zone out.

parking was easy which is a big w, and the place is clean, no trash everywhere. only thing is there’s not like a ton to do, so once u walk around and look at everything u kinda done. but it’s nice if ur bored or wanna chill outside for a bit.

overall solid little spot to check out. not mind-blowing but peaceful and kinda wholesome fr. would recommend if ur nearby and wanna feel “cultured” for like 20 minutes lol."
