What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Quicksand Golf Course Woodcreek is praised for its excellent course layout and significantly improved fairways and greens following renovations. However, a recent price increase to $90 per round has drawn criticism, with many golfers feeling it's too high given the lack of amenities like a driving range and full-service grill. The staff consistently receives positive remarks for their attentiveness and service.
"I've been coming to this course for around 3 years now, it was a nice option when I did not feel like spending money at Plum Creek/Grey Rock. The recent price hike to $90 a round is outrageous. This course was ~$70 a round less than two years ago.
I understand you all are completing some renovations, but nothing is 100% complete, so what warrants the hike? You all are going to lose out on a lot of weekend golfers that played at your course because the fair price matched the quality of the course compared to others in the area. I already see other negative google reviews surrounding the price hike, and they'll continue.
Just my two cents. Good luck in the future."

"I have been golfing at woodcreek my entire life. Probably 25 years and me and my brother play very often and love it. After recently re opening they have raised their rate to 90$ on the weekend. I’m sorry but woodcreek will never be a 90$ round course. You can drive 30 min and play Vaaler or The Bandit for that money. It’s a shame because I was excited about them laying new sod on the greens and tee boxes but I don’t see how that makes it a 90$ course. I’m sure I can’t be the only one who feels this way.
Edit: response from Double J is funny. Yes you offer a slightly discounted price for late day tee times that you can’t play 18 before dark. Today is a Saturday and I see their tee times are almost completely open. So it would seem everyone agrees 90$ for this course is absurd when you can play a championship level course like Vaaler or Bandit for the same money. Me and my brother played almost weekly but we will just make a little drive for now on I guess."

"The group of 4 that I play with regularly live in different parts of the hill country and we play at several different courses. I always push for Woodcreek/Double J because it’s where I learned to play and I enjoy it. During our round today I was told by the group this will probably be the last time I convince them to come here due to the 20% fee increase, state of the cart paths, lack of driving range, and lack of pro shop/grill. After our round we noticed that Double J’s Monday to Thursday rates are more expensive than several other courses in the area as well."

Understanding the Renovation Impact
However, these improvements have coincided with a notable price increase, with weekend rounds now costing around $90. This has been a point of contention for some golfers who feel the current price point doesn't align with the amenities offered, particularly the absence of a driving range and a full-service pro shop/grill. The community is divided on whether the enhanced playing conditions justify the higher cost, leading to discussions about value and alternatives.
Despite the price concerns, the course layout itself is consistently praised for its challenging design. It offers a good test for golfers of all skill levels, with holes that demand strategic thinking and others that reward aggressive play. The staff's dedication to service is also frequently highlighted, with many golfers appreciating their attentiveness and friendly demeanor.
Navigating Amenities and Expectations
Furthermore, the pro shop and grill facilities are currently limited. While cart girls are present and provide refreshments during the round, there isn't a full-service clubhouse for post-game meals or extensive pro shop offerings. This suggests that visitors might want to plan for dining in nearby towns like Wimberley or Dripping Springs after their game.
Another aspect to be aware of is the condition of the cart paths. Some reviews mention that they can be rough, potentially leading to a bumpy ride. While the focus has been on the greens and fairways, the cart paths are an area that could see future improvements.
