It was opening weekend at the ice castles exhibition in North Woodstock, which opened early this year after a recent stretch of cold weather made for ideal building conditions. While some Granite Staters looking for a dose of the outdoors hit ski slopes nearby, families lined up to explore towers, tunnels, slides and thrones, all made of ice. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the magical and breathtaking beauty of the Ice Castles, especially when illuminated at night. The interactive elements like ice slides and tubing are a hit with families. However, some reviews mention concerns about slippery pathways, inconsistent staff engagement, and potential overcrowding during peak times.

"First time here and we absolutely loved it! We were hesitant on doing it at night (with the cold weather) but it was better than we expected. The lights were amazing and the kids loved every corner. We spent about an hour here just taking photos and drinking hot chocolate. The kids slide was really fun too. Next time we will look into the sleigh ride. We went at 8pm on a Wednesday and it was very calm. We were really able to enjoy all of the views. Staff were very friendly and welcoming."

Josian Martinez

"The Ice Castle is a mesmerizing destination that captivates both kids and adults alike. The intricate ice sculptures and glowing lights create a magical ambiance that feels straight out of a winter fairy tale. A highlight is the slides, designed to entertain visitors of all ages—fun for children and a delightful touch for adults wanting to embrace their inner child.

To enhance the experience, I recommend trying the 10-15 minute sled ride, available for $25. While it’s not particularly adventurous or thrilling, it offers a pleasant and family-friendly activity, perfect for creating cherished memories with kids.

Overall, the Ice Castle is a fantastic outing for families, blending awe-inspiring visuals with fun activities that everyone can enjoy. Highly recommended for a unique winter adventure!"

"Beautiful work and it’s different each year! Stay as long as you’d like for the day (they open at 4pm EST and be mindful of the crowds).

Tubing, ice slides, the castle is multi level, has all kinds of beautiful photo spots, ice thrones as well as sculptures, & they have some food trucks and fit pits to warm up around. There’s also a cool sleigh ride pulled by Belgian horses (beautiful gentle giants!) for an additional charge.

Been here a couple of years and it’s always a great time. Busier than you’d expect, but absolutely worth the experience!"
